Litter Prevention Officer
Hours: Monday to Friday | 8:15 AM – 4:30 PM

Are you passionate about keeping our environment clean, safe, and compliant? We’re currently recruiting for a motivated and professional Litter Prevention Officer to join a proactive Council team in ensuring building sites and public spaces meet environmental and local law standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate litter, amenity, and compliance issues in relation to Local Laws and the Environment Protection Act.
- Educate the community, builders, and developers on litter prevention and building site compliance.
- Conduct site inspections, patrols, audits, and enforce regulations through notices and infringements.
- Manage public complaints and ensure timely follow-up and feedback.
- Prepare detailed reports, evidence briefs, and represent Council in legal proceedings where required.
- Participate in after-hours and on-call rostered services as needed.
What You’ll Bring:
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to manage difficult conversations professionally.
- Sound knowledge and application of key legislation including:
Local Government Act
Environment Protection Act
Road Safety Act
Council Local Laws
- Demonstrated investigative experience across environmental protection, building sites, and local law enforcement.
- Strong Microsoft Office and mobile tech competency for report writing, field documentation and system updates.
- High level of time management and the ability to prioritise tasks independently.
- Proven ability to handle community interactions with empathy and professionalism.
Essential Qualifications & Requirements:
- Certificate IV in Statutory Compliance (Government), Civil Investigations, or a related field.
- Valid Victorian Driver’s Licence.
- Current Working with Children Check.
- Experience working in a regulatory or law enforcement environment (Council or Government preferred).
- Ability to interpret legislation and apply enforcement procedures in line with Council policies.
